FINISH AND FINESSE

Finish & Finesse - Rick Rowbottom

ONE-DAY WORKSHOP (Monday).

MATERIAL COST $10.00

This is a beginner workshop, where you will learn to cut, stretch, re-cut and skive leather stranding for your plaiting projects. You will learn to braid a centre strip for decoration on your belts and also learn the basics of creating turks head knots to personalise your projects.


No previous experience is required.

Dog Lead - Rick Rowbottom

PLAITED DOG LEAD

TWO DAY WORKSHOP (Tuesday/Wednesday).

MATERIAL COST $20.00

In this workshop, you will plait an 8 strand dog lead using 4 mm lace, you will be working with pre-cut lace, but, you will stretch and re-cut and skive the lace, plaiting over a nylon centre cord. You will start with 4 strands then transition into 8 strands, forming a loop. You will learn the skills to back splice, to form a hand loop.

To finish off, you will form foundations for turks head knots. Once you place the turks head covers over the foundations, they will resemble beads, giving a classy look to any project.

Bracelet - Rick Rowbottom

PLAITED BRACELET

ONE DAY WORKSHOP (Thursday).

MATERIAL COST $15.00

In this workshop you will learn to create bracelets using pretty clasps and turks head knots as decoration. You will stretch, re-cut and skive your strands, then plait a 4 strand cord, learn how to fit clasps and decorate with turks head knots.

PLAITED NECKLACE CHOKER

Necklace - Rick Rowbottom

TWO DAY WORKSHOP (Friday/Saturday).

MATERIAL COST $15.00

This is an advanced workshop and will test your skills. You will create a stunning choker using 2mm pre-cut leather lace, working with 2 contrasting colours. To start you will stretch, re-cut and skive your stranding. Your plaiting will start as 6 strands and progress into 12 strands.

You will also learn to change patterns, such as borders, eyes, checker board, diamonds and more, then finish your project with a turks head knot to secure the end.

If time permits, you may even decorate the choker with more turks heads.
